Upgrade your plane with a Hock Replacement Iron
Whether it is a vintage Stanley that has been sharpened a few too many times or a modern plane with an inferior blade, sometimes you just need to upgrade to something better. The Hock Plane Blades are made of high carbon steel. These irons are properly heat treated to give them the hardness to stay sharp for long days in the shop.
These blades are 3/32" thick, making them thicker than vintage bench plane blades. The added thickness reduces the likelihood that your blade will chatter while planing wood. This is especially important when planing harder woods or woods with difficult grain.
High Carbon Steel
High carbon steel from Hock Tools has set the standard for plane blades for many years. Much like the tool makers from the golden era of hand tools (over 100 years ago) these plane blades use the finest high carbon steel available. The high carbon steel stays sharp but sharpens more quickly than the A2 steel blades.
The 1 3/4" size fits the #3. The 2" size fits #4 and No. #5 style planes. The 2-3/8" fits #4-1/2, #5-1/2, #6 and #7 style planes.
