Still the best bar clamp on the market. The Bessey bar clamp has been a great bar clamp for many years. Regardless of the type of woodworking you do, you can never have enough quality bar clamps on hand. These clamps have a clamping force of 600 lbs. This is plenty of force for just about any woodworking glue-up. While these are the regular duty clamps, don't let the name fool you, these are tough clamps. I have personally owned cheap clamps (huge mistake) and they can't even come close to matching the strength and quality of these clamps. A cheap clamp will bend and throw your work out of square. These clamps have a throat depth of 2 1/2". If clamping depth isn't critical, such as edge gluing boards, these are ideal bar clamps. The profiled steel rail is serrated so you can quickly adjust your clamps. The rail is the backbone of the bar clamp and we've found these rails to be extremely strong. The cast jaws are built well to take years of abuse. The action to move the lower jaw is very smooth and quick. These clamps come with plastic pressure plates (red plastic pads). I've found that these help protect your work more than direct contact with the metal. I've also found that you can peel dried glue off the the pads with ease. These bar clamps feature heavy-duty coarse threading on the handle. A few turns on the handle tightens your clamp. Fine threaded bar clamps are more time consuming to use. The 24" size clamps a full 24" and weigh 2.7 lbs each. This size is very versatile and can be used on small and large projects. Made in Germany. |
